Cormac McCarthy and Ridley Scott pair up for The Counselor
We’ve seen a few clips and two short teaser trailers for the Ridley Scott-directed, Cormac McCarthy-scripted film The Couselor, but now we’ve finally got an official full-length trailer. Scott looks to be delving back into territory fueled by character motivations and real tension, so here’s hoping the film turns out to be fantastic. A star-studded cast that includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Rosie Perez, John Lequizamo, and Natalie Dormer definitely can’t hurt.
Watch the first official trailer for the film after the jump.
Stakes seem high (although what these stakes are isn’t made clear through the trailer), and everyone involved looks to be turning in their “A” game. With a story from Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men, The Road, All the Pretty Horses), and under the direction of a post-Prometheus Ridley Scott, The Counselor is in very capable hands.
Here’s an official synopsis for the film:
Ridley Scott and author Cormac McCarthy join forces in the motion picture thriller THE COUNSELOR, starring Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, and Brad Pitt. McCarthy, making his screenwriting debut and Scott interweave the author’s characteristic wit and dark humor with a nightmarish scenario, in which a respected lawyer’s one-time dalliance with an illegal business deal spirals out of control.
