Time travel crimes are Ethan Hawke’s game in first Predestination trailer
The Spierig Brothers (Michael and Peter), directors of the surprisingly good vampire movie Daybreakers, are back with their buddy Ethan Hawke, but this time around they’re tackling the time travel genre with a new film called Predestination. If anything, Georges Méliès (look him up) would be proud of the effects on display in the first trailer, and if the creative crew behind the movie can pull off time travel as convincingly and entertainingly as they did vampires we may be in for a fun ride.
Follow Ethan Hawke’s Temporal Agent down the rabbit hole in the first trailer for Predestination after the jump.
Looks pretty intriguing, and it would be nice to see the time travel movie arena gain a new solid contender. Again, Michael and Peter Spierig, with the help of a strong cast, showed up on a lot of film fan radars with Daybreakers, so here’s hoping they continue their indie-to-blockbuster climb with another strong genre entry. With zombies, vampires, and now time travel under their belts, is it safe to say the duo is working through some movie favorites and leaving their mark?
Before you get too crazy thinking about a Spierig werewolf or ghost story attempt, give this curious plot synopsis for Predestination a read:
PREDESTINATION chronicles the life of a Temporal Agent (Ethan Hawke) sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to ensure the continuation of his law enforcement career for all eternity. Now, on his final assignment, the Agent must pursue the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time.
Predestination stars Ethan Hawke, newcomer Sarah Snook, Noah Taylor, Madeleine West, and Christopher Kirby. With no official U.S. release date announced yet, you can expect the film to hit theaters in Australia on August 28th.
