New trailer for The Revenant previews movie’s brutality
The Revenant looks spectacular, plain and simple. The upcoming mountain man true story tale, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman) and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, promises a primal trek through unforgiving territory, and I’m extremely satisfied with everything that’s been previewed thus far. The first teaser trailer had film fans picking their jaws off the floor, and this new “official” full-length trailer is sure to blow those jaws right off. I wasn’t expecting much more than was already teased, but the new trailer for The Revenant is brutal and beautiful all at once. From the bear attack to the betrayal to the revenge trek back to civilization, the almost-three-minute look into Iñárritu’s latest is a must-see.
Whether you’re a fan of those involved, love a good mountain man story, or just consider yourself curious, definitely give the newest trailer for The Revenant a watch after the jump.
I watched it twice. That bear attack is going to be intense on the big screen! Everything about The Revenant looks promising, and fans are hoping this might be DiCaprio’s long-awaited Oscar-worthy performance. Only time will tell, but the movie is bound to get all kinds of praise and adoration for what it is. Again, not only is it propped up by some amazing actors and a director who’s already made his mark, but the movie was shot in Calgary’s freezing cold weather using only natural light. That in itself is ridiculous, given the crew and cast only had a few hours of optimal light each day, but it’s also kind of great for aspiring filmmakers. I know I’m curious to see how everything looks as a finished product, and I look forward to dissecting scenes and shots thinking, “Hmm, I could do that in the right light too.” Very promising and very ambitious as a project, so here’s hoping The Revenant knocks our socks off this December.
Here’s a plot synopsis for The Revenant for those unfamiliar with the true story or the movie’s skeleton:
Deep in the unchartered American wilderness, hunter Hugh Glass is severely injured and left for dead by a traitorous member of his team, John Fitzgerald. With sheer will as his only weapon, Glass must navigate a hostile environment, a brutal winter and warring tribes in a relentless quest to survive and exact vengeance on Fitzgerald.
The Revenant opens in theaters on December 25, 2015.
