Guy Ritchie’s remake of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. gets a trailer
Guy Ritchie has been playing it pretty quiet for a while, which is why it’s great to see the first trailer for his upcoming remake of the ’60s television series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. finally surface and start circulating. I’m a little late in posting the trailer, but the movie looks like a it’s going to be a blast. There’s plenty of fun flair on display, lots of hand-to-hand combat that’s sure to feature the Ritchie touch, and the ’60s setting will be an enjoyable backdrop to see brought to life. I can’t wait to watch this one on the big screen!

I knew very little about this movie, and even less about the ’60s television show that the movie is remaking, but it’s an interesting gamble to bring back another nostalgic property. I’m excited to see Ritchie finally backing something that’s not a Sherlock Holmes movie, and his hand will most likely rope in a younger audience who’ve never heard of the TV series.
Here’s a plot synopsis for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. for those of us who aren’t familiar with the original series:
Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. stars Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill, Hugh Grant, Alicia Vikander, Jared Harris, and Elizabeth Debicki. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on August 14, 2015.
