The Hateful Eight trailer teases Quentin Tarantino’s eighth movie
The Hateful Eight teaser trailer has finally arrived! The movie almost never was, after a script leak prompted director Quentin Tarantino to sue and shelve the project, but it was resurrected not long after the leak. It’s Tarantino’s eighth feature film, and it brings back familiar faces to familiar places (Tarantino must have loved shooting in Wyoming/making a western with Django). While the trailer is being billed as a teaser, there’s plenty to whet your whistle with and get excited about. The cast alone, under the watch of Tarantino, is worth the ticket. Pair strong players like Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell with more Tarantino dialogue and his violent touch, and we’ve got something special.
Watch the first trailer for The Hateful Eight, read a plot synopsis, and check out the film’s first posters after the jump.
Whaddya think? Tarantino created a wedge between his die-hard fans and casual moviegoers with Django Unchained, but the man knows his way around a camera. There’s bound to be some beautiful wild west landscapes (the movie was shot on 70mm) mixed in with plenty of squib-induced bloody fun, which has become the director’s Midas touch on whatever genre he tackles. I’m in, and I can’t wait for this one to hit theaters on December 25, 2015.
Unfamiliar with the production rollercoaster ride and The Hateful Eight in general? Here’s a lengthy plot synopsis to catch you up:
In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth and his fugitive Daisy Domergue, race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren, a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix, a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob, who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray, the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage, and Confederate General Sanford Smithers. As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
The Hateful Eight stars Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Walton Goggins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Zoe Bell, Michael Madsen, Demian Bichir, and Bruce Dern.
