The trailer for Ender’s Game is finally here
Update: Now with new poster
Orson Scott Card’s futuristic sci-fi world has finally made its way to the big screen by way of an Ender’s Game film adaptation. The first in a line of books about a young Ender Wiggin turned savior of humanity, Ender’s Game has many fans both wary and anxious about seeing the book brought to life.
The trailer teases of a few exciting things to come, and we get a good look at what to expect from an Ender’s Game movie helmed by director Gavin Hood.
Check out the brand new trailer for the movie, and read some reassuring words from Hood, after the jump.
Granted, there’s still a lot of leeway that has to be given between a trailer and a full-length film, but things look very promising for Ender’s Game. The scale is huge, some key elements are there, and we can only hope the heart and intelligence isn’t sacrificed for spectacle.
Here’s an official synopsis for the film:
In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.
Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Enderquickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soonordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
Ender’s Game stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Viola Davis, Ben Kingsley, and a handful of young faces ready for battle school.
Director Gavin Hood promised a while back that the “famous zero gravity battle room scenes are looking fantastic,” and from the trailer things look…interesting…to say the least. Read a few more reassuring words from Hood HERE.
Update: Here’s a new poster for the film:
Ender’s Game is set to hit theaters November 1st.
