Swiss Army Man trailer previews the Dano/Radcliffe Sundance oddball
Swiss Army Man looks like a mix of Where the Wild Things Are, Robinson Crusoe, and Weekend at Bernie’s, and the first trailer for the strange movie paints a pretty ridiculous picture. Sundance buzz for Swiss Army Man was mostly positive, if not perplexed. After watching the trailer a few times, I’m honestly looking forward to watching the Paul Dano/Daniel Radcliffe pairing pal around in the woods in their peculiar state. Looks like Dano uses the farting dead alive body of Radcliffe as a grappling hook launcher, a water spout, a motor boat, an axe, and possibly a jetpack. I’m on board!

From the brief glimpse we get in the trailer, Swiss Army Man appears to hinge on its quirks, but underneath I feel a lot of heart and the somber notions of depression and life after death. It always shakes me up a bit to think about leaving behind loved ones and dying unfulfilled, and the movie looks like it might dive into that territory a bit. I’m curious, to say the least.
