Hop aboard the Omege station in first 70s-tastic Space Station 76 trailer
Today, we get a lot of ridiculously CGI-laden space and sci-fi epics that aim to wow us with outlandish visuals rather than charm and challenge with an excellent story. While the first trailer for Space Station 76 may not boast an Oscar-worthy outline, it does look a breath of fresh air and an enjoyable step back in the vein of old school ’70s-style space opera awesomeness.

Even the trailer is in classic ’70s fashion, and it’s cool to see an official trailer for a film in this style as opposed to a fan-made mashup. The movie looks like a good time for all the right reasons, and it’d be great to see this little gem get a wide release instead of getting shuffled onto VOD before anyone notices.
Here’s a plot synopsis for Space Station 76:
“Space Station 76″ is a comedic drama about a group of people (and several robots) living on a space station in a 1970’s-version of the future. When a new Assistant Captain arrives, she inadvertently ignites tensions among the crew, prompting them to confront their darkest secrets. Barely contained lust, jealousy, and anger all bubble to the surface, becoming just as dangerous as the asteroid that’s heading right for them.
The movie stars Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Matt Bomer, Jerry O’Connell, and Marisa Coughlan. Space Station 76 doesn’t debuted at this year’s SXSW, but it doesn’t yet have an official release date.
