Maggie trailer teases new zombie movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Governator seems like a distant dream now, with the actor back in his element and churning out films again, and he continues to explore the emotional spectrum on a somber note in the first trailer for Maggie. The movie sees Schwarzenegger seemingly tracking down his daughter in an apocalyptic/zombie-infested future and taking care of her as she turns. There’s definitely an atmosphere established in the short preview, and the trailer is enough to tease an interesting premise and Arnold taking advantage of his age.
Watch the first trailer for Maggie after the jump.
Schwarzenegger has been hit or miss in regards to his post-governor roles, so it’s fun anticipating him experimenting a bit outside of action-heavy callback cameos. Plus, there are zombies. It’s surprising the actor doesn’t already have a zombie film under his belt, so I suppose it’s about time.
Here’s a plot synopsis for Maggie letting us know what subtly sets this film apart from the rest of cinema’s zombie offerings:
There’s a deadly zombie epidemic threatening humanity, but Wade, a small-town farmer and family man, refuses to accept defeat even when his daughter Maggie becomes infected. As Maggie’s condition worsens and the authorities seek to eradicate those with the virus, Wade is pushed to the limits in an effort to protect her.
Maggie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin, Joely Richardson, and J.D. Evermore. The movie is the big screen debut of director Henry Hobson and will see limited theatrical and On Demand release on May 8, 2015.
