Emile Hirsch and Paul Rudd pair up for Prince Avalanche
Director David Gordon Green (George Washington, Pineapple Express) has a colorful career ranging from emotional drama to fully baked comedies. With his newest film Prince Avalanche he seems to be melding the two in an indie-esque fashion. Emile Hirsch and Paul Rudd play The Odd Couple in an outdoor setting, maintaining backroads and painting highway lines, set to the instrumental band Explosions in the Sky. Looks like fun!
Check out the new trailer for the film after the jump.
The film feels heartfelt and could be quite enjoyable. Emile Hirsch doesn’t get enough credit these days, and Paul Rudd could use a film that lets him play against his type-cast goofy guy persona. Here’s hoping the film is well recieved.
And here’s an official synopsis for Prince Avalanche:
An odd couple of sorts, meditative and stern Alvin and his girlfriend’s brother, Lance, dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer in solitude repainting traffic lines down the center of a country highway ravaged by wildfire. As they sink into their job in the remarkable landscape, they learn more than they want to about each other and their own limitations. An unlikely friendship develops through humor and nasty exchanges, leading to surprising affection.
