Phase Two begins in first Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials trailer
The first trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the second film in the between-the-cracks Maze Runner franchise, has finally arrived. Having not read the books, and having reached the beach as most fans rode the post-apocalyptic tween novel wave out to sea, I was pleasantly surprised when I eventually popped The Maze Runner dvd into the player. I enjoyed the first film more than expected, so The Scorch Trials trailer sparks my curiosity as a sequel as well as an expansion on the manipulation and wild world already introduced. I still haven’t read the books, and there’s a good chance I never will, but I’m on board as far as seeing where this film franchise goes. The trailer does a decent job of introducing new characters and more of the scenery and story.

One thing I enjoyed about The Maze Runner was the group dynamic, and the movie’s ability to make this little band of survivors seem like more than just paint-by-numbers placeholders. It’ll be fun to watch Thomas and his buddies try to survive in The Scorch, even if it ends up being another test propelling us toward a third movie.
If you’re like me and haven’t read the books, here’s a plot synopsis for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials:
In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials stars Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Patricia Clarkson, Lili Taylor, Aiden Gillen, and Barry Pepper. The movie sees director Wes Ball returning and is scheduled to hit theaters on September 18, 2015.
