John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum trailer drops and sees John on the run
The first trailer for John Wick Chapter – Parabellum blazed in the other day, and it’s good to see that Keanu Reeves’ Wick is certainly back. This time around, he’s on the run and has a new friend in Halle Berry’s Sofia and her German Shepherds.
In the end of John Wick: Chapter 2 (spoilers) we saw John unceremoniously put a bullet through Santino’s head on Continental ground. That’s a big no-no, and it put an even bigger target on Wick’s back. Everyone’s after him. That’s pretty much all we need to know going in, right?
Check out the first trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum:
Director Chad Stahelski has come a long way since his work as a stunt double for Reeves in The Matrix. He’s helmed all three John Wick movies, and if fans have it their way he’ll keep churning out sequels.
Personally, I’m hoping Parabellum is a nice finale to the John Wick trilogy, and I’m okay with Wick’s legend dying with him if that’s how it has to end (can John Wick die?). There’s really no need to drag this out to the point of recasting Keanu Reeves with some young protege, as is the tendency, and carrying on the franchise.
If you’ve seen the other two movies or have heard anything about John Wick in general, there’s a good chance you know what to expect. Just for posterity, here’s the official plot synopsis for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum:
John Wick is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Robin Lord Taylor, Jason Mantzoukas, Mark Dacascos, and Hiroyuki Sanada (rumored). The movie hits theaters on May 17, 2019.
