Iron Sky The Coming Race trailer teases Nazis riding dinosaurs
The first Iron Sky movie was terrible, terrible cinema at its finest, and you either loved or hated both the concept and the on-screen madness that unfolded as the idea of Nazis with a Moonbase was realized. Now, Iron Sky The Coming Age has an official trailer, and the film wants to continue the mania in all its B-movie badassery. If this is your first introduction to Iron Sky, all you need to know is its sequel features zombie Nazis riding dinosaurs who’re in cahoots with what appears to be Sarah Palin, and the movie is being billed as Iron Sky meets Jurassic Park goes Indiana Jones .
So, if that sounds like your cup of cinema tea, watch the first trailer for Iron Sky The Coming Race after the jump (and also check out the original trailer for Iron Sky while you’re at it).
If we’re being critical, the trailer above is pretty much the only part of the movie that’s been made so far, but there’s a partially funded Iron Sky The Coming Race Indiegogo campaign that’s aimed at raising the money needed for the rest of filming and post-production. The project description says the script is done, Hitler riding his pet T-rex is done, but that’s about it at this point. So, if you really like the idea of Hitler Indiana Jones Jurassic Park, you can help make the movie a reality by donating to the campaign!
Here’s the plot synopsis for Iron Sky The Coming Race to give you a little more detail:
Twenty years after the events of Iron Sky, the former Nazi Moonbase has become the last refuge of mankind. Earth was devastated by a nuclear war, but buried deep under the wasteland lies a power that could save the last of humanity – or destroy it once and for all. The truth behind the creation of mankind will be revealed when an old enemy leads our heroes on an adventure into the Hollow Earth. To save humanity they must fight the Vril, an ancient shapeshifting reptilian race and their army of dinosaurs.
Crazy thing is, as dumb/fantastic/ridiculous as the movie sounds, the VFX work is being done by Pixomondo, a company that won an Oscar for work on Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, had their hands in films like Star Trek Into Darkness, Oblivion, Sucker Punch, and 2012, and garnered attention for their dragon work on Game of Thrones, so Iron Sky The Coming Race is guaranteed to look great at the very least. So, B-movie concept with blockbuster-proven visual effects? What a strange little beast this thing could become.
If you’re intrigued but unfamiliar with the franchise (is it safe to call it a fledgling franchise at this point?), here’s the trailer for the original Iron Sky
