First HERCULES teaser trailer reveals almost nothing about the film

Monsters are on display more than Hercules in first teaser trailer

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (he’ll never get away from that name) has been tweeting sneak peaks of his upcoming film Hercules for a while now, but this week it looks like the movie’s marketing is amping up. Directed by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand), the first teaser trailer for the film was released today, but it doesn’t really tell us much about…anything. Granted, there are some pretty CGI monsters on display, but other than that and a challenging voiceover there’s really nothing revealed. Hopefully the full-length trailer, whenever it arrives, will be a little more plot-driven.

Watch  the first teaser trailer and check out the first poster for Hercules after the jump.

Again, those CGI animals and monsters sure look pretty, but calling this anything more than a teaser is unfair. That said, is it safe to assume that big ol’ lion is the same one The Rock is wearing on his head?

Here’s a synopsis that was released last year (courtesy of SlashFilm) that makes the movie sound like a mercenary for hire movie set in Ancient Greece:

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend…

Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

Hercules star Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt, Rufus Sewell, and introduces Irina Shayk to the big screen. The film hits theaters July 25th, 2014.
