Gravity looks to be a beautiful small cast space thriller
Alfonso Cuaron‘s newest film Gravity finally has a teaser trailer. Starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the movie is light on cast but almost certainly heavy on introspection and amazing visuals.
After seeing this teaser play before The Great Gatsby in full 3D awesomeness it’s safe to say watching it through a computer screen isn’t doing it justice. That said, check out the trailer after the jump, and get ready for a different kind of thriller this October.
Here’s an film synopsis via Gravity’s official website:
Academy Award® winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in “Gravity,” a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. The film was directed by Oscar® nominee Alfonso Cuaron.
Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalksy (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone – tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into blackness.
The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.
But the only way home may be to go further into the terrifying expanse of space.
Again, Gravity (at least this trailer) looks stunning in 3D and on the big screen, so one can only hope the director of Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban will be able to balance out the beauty nicely.
Here’s an early poster for the film:
Clooney and Bullock are the only two listed as cast aside from a pair of mission control-type voices, and Gravity is scheduled for an October 4th release.
