Dragon Blade trailer sees familiar faces in Chinese epic
The first trailer for the Chinese film Dragon Blade starring Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Adrien Brody just started making the rounds, and the movie looks like an epic wartime tale of merged loyalties and historic rivalries. The story takes place during the Han dynasty period (206-220 A.D.) and sees Cusack and Chan’s characters joining forces against Brody, a man who’s hell-bent on controlling the “silk road” as well as the hearts of the people. Reactions are pretty mixed regarding the trailer’s debut, ranging from expecting an utter disaster to anticipating an outrageous piece of Chinese/American cinema, so give the trailer a watch and see how you feel afterward.

The trailer seems edited in all kinds of different directions, and I’m sure it’s not the best picture that could have been painted for perfection-expecting moviegoers. That said, the choice in casting is interesting, to say the least, and on that merit alone it might be worth keeping an eye on this one.
No official synopsis was paired with the trailer, but at least we get some idea of lost Romans in China and a fight over the “silk road.” Dragon Blade was directed by Daniel Lee (Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon, 14 Blades) and stars Jackie Chan, John Cusack, Adrien Brody, Peng Lin, Mika Wang, Si Won Choi, and Sharni Vinson. The film opens in China on February 19, 2015 but has yet to find U.S. distribution.
