First full-length Deadpool 2 trailer brings back The Merc with a Mouth
Deadpool 2 has been teased since the original film’s credits rolled and Deadpool himself (in a fun nod to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) told filmgoers that the sequel would include Cable. Now, the first full-length trailer for Deadpool 2 has debuted, and it’s sprinkled with the irreverence and self-deprecating humor we were expecting. I don’t know much about the comic book character or his story arcs, but the sequel predictably tosses in a few more mutants, ups the ante with the baddie, and drops a few one-liners from the Merc with a Mouth. Looking forward to Deadpool 2? Sticking your nose up like my brother, who called the first Deadpool the worst movie he’d ever seen? Deadpool don’t care either way, because his new movie has a new trailer.
Watch the trailer for Deadpool 2:
Again, I’m not very familiar with Deadpool’s arcs or the many different characters I’m sure he bumps into in the comic books, but it looks like Josh Brolin’s Cable is hunting down Ricky Baker from The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, who has mutant powers of some kind. Can anyone fill me in? What’s going on here? I’ve heard word that Cable dabbles in time travel, so maybe that plays some part in what’s unfolding. Does the kid have time travel powers? How much do I need to now about the X-Force? Lots of new, exciting peripheral characters and hidden easter eggs to uncover. Here’s hoping Deadpool 2 lives up to the hype and doesn’t suffer from bad sequel-itis.
Here’s one of the “official” Deadpool 2 plot synopses to fill in the details of the sequel (I’m pretty sure different movie sites like IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes have different quirky plot summaries for the movie):
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
And for posterity’s sake, here’s a fun quasi-trailer for Deadpool 2 titled “Deadpool, Meet Cable” that dropped back in February:
Deadpool 2 was directed by David Leitch (Atomic Blonde) and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Josh Brolin, Julian Dennison, T.J. Miller, Zazie Beetz, Terry Crews, Bill Skarsgård, Shioli Kutsuna, Eddie Marsan, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapicic, and Brianna Hildebrand. The movie makes its way to theaters on May 18, 2018.
