First Crimson Peak trailer sets an ominous tone
I’ve heard very little about Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming thriller Crimson Peak, but the first teaser trailer for the film sets a fantastically horrific tone. With trailers, and trailers for trailers, pretty much giving away everything these days, it’s nice to get a sneak peek that’s successful in selling the suspense while leaving plenty to the imagination. Crimson Peak looks like a must-see for both fans of the genre and del Toro die-hards, and you can official color me intrigued by what’s being teased. Couple the eerie visuals with an exceptional cast, as well as a tag line in the trailer boasting that this is the director’s “ultimate masterpiece,” and you’ve got a solid audience filling theater seats for sure.
Watch the fantastic teaser trailer for Crimson Peak after the jump.
It’s been a while since del Toro has taken his talent into horror territory, and Crimson Peak looks like a very welcome return to form for the man who made his mark within the genre. Granted, the director seemed to be having fun playing with giant robots and monsters, but it’s great to see a new small-scale scary story make its way to the big screen.
Here’s an official plot synopsis for Crimson Peak (minus the studio and cast snippets that are often included):
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
Crimson Peak stars Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam, Burn Gorman, Doug Jones (of course), and Jim Beaver. The film is scheduled to hit theaters just in time for Halloween on October 16, 2015.
