Zombie kids with an appetite are on the loose in first Cooties trailer
Literally just the other week I was thinking about a zombie film focusing on kids, and it looks like the upcoming horror/comedy Cooties starring Rainn Wilson and Elijah Wood beat me to the punch. While it’s not quite the premise I had in mind (which was more in line with this abandoned project called Heart Land), the movie looks like an enjoyable blend of dark comedy and good ol’ fashioned limb-biting, skin-munching zombie mania. Plus, the cast is made up of oddball favorites that I can’t get enough of like Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, and Jack McBrayer. Seeing them get a little crazy while running through a school trying to survive as their students chase them down for lunch sounds like a blast!
Watch the first trailer for Cooties, read a plot synopsis, and check out some posters for the film after the jump.
While the premise alone has me pretty much sold, the zombie movie genre is such a saturated one that it’s hard to judge new fodder until the final credits roll. Cooties looks like a good time, and the cast is one I’d watch in just about any movie, so here’s hoping it’s as enjoyable as it appears. Being co-written by and starring part of the original Saw team can go either way. While it would have made a great fall/Halloween premise, we’ll get to see how it pans out a month earlier in September to get ready for the season.
Here’s a plot synopsis for Cooties to fill us in on the details (if you really need more than “zombie kids eat teachers”):
COOTIES is a horror comedy with unexpected laughs and unapologetic thrills. When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. The film stars Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, and Alison Pill as teachers who fight to survive the mayhem while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives.
Cooties stars Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Morgan Lily, Jorge Garcia, Nasim Pedrad, Matt Jones, and Leigh Whannell. The movie is the first directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion and is scheduled to hit theaters and VOD on September 18, 2015.
