By the Sea trailer previews romantic drama starring Jolie and Pitt
By the Sea, an upcoming romantic drama starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, got its first tease of a trailer the other day. The movie looks quiet and calm on the surface, but underneath is something somber and possibly dangerous. One can’t help but wonder if the two actors signed on to battle some internal/external demons within their own marriage, because this looks like a tumble through the emotional washer if ever there was one. That said, I’m sure it’s easy to cast yourself and your husband (Jolie also wrote and directed the movie) no matter the project, especially when you’re both above-par when it comes to on-screen charisma. I’m intrigued, to say the least.
Watch the first trailer for By the Sea after the jump.
Not a lot revealed about the movie, but at the same time there’s plenty of tension and turmoil teased. I’m not normally a huge fan of quieter romantic/dramatic movies, but this one could be worth the watch. Only time will tell. Jolie has been pretty solid as a director so far, so here’s hoping By the Sea turns some heads.
I thought maybe this one was based on a true story, but it looks like it’s not. Here’s the plot synopsis for By the Sea to fill in some of the details:
Set in France during the mid-1970s, Vanessa, a former dancer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, travel the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner.
By the Sea stars Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Richard Bohringer, Niels Arestrup, and Melvil Poupaud. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 13, 2015.
