Bloodsucking Bastards trailer previews Slamdance hopeful
The first trailer for Bloodsucking Bastards has prompted many media outlets to peg the film as Office Space or Horrible Bosses meets (insert popular monster movie or TV comparison), and it wouldn’t be unfair to call out similarities to favorites like True Blood, Shaun of the Dead, Fright Night, and even The Faculty. The trailer sets a familiar tone, but it’s a tone we’ve grown to love if the movie that follows lives up to the silly action comedy combination that’s promised.
Bloodsucking Bastards premieres at this year’s Slamdance film festival, and you can check out the first trailer after the jump.
Bloodsucking Bastards is, assumedly, looking to secure distribution after its premiere at Slamdance (January 23-29), so here’s hoping it’ll hit theaters sometime in the near future. If you’re able to catch it at the film festival this weekend, definitely write in and let me know how it is. If you’re not so fortunate, you can keep yourself up to date as the movie moves forward by checking out the Facebook page for Bloodsucking Bastards.
If the trailer didn’t tease enough of a plot synopsis for you, here’s a little more detail letting us know what to expect:
An action-packed vampire comedy, BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS follows Evan Sanders, a dutiful employee stuck at a soul-killing corporation with his beautiful girlfriend Amanda and slacker best friend Tim. Evan’s world crumbles when Amanda dumps him and his boss hands his coveted promotion to his longtime nemesis. As officemates start going through disturbing changes and bodies begin to pile up, Evan must find a way to stop the evil brewing amidst the cubicles, win back Amanda, and rescue his workplace pals before his life and career go from dead-end… to just dead.
Bloodsucking Bastards stars Fran Kranz, Emma Fitzpatrick, Pedro Pascal, Joey Kern, Yvette Yates, and Joel Murray, and it could be a nice stepping stone for director Brian James O’Connell. Give it a watch opening night at Slamdance if you’re in Utah this Friday!
