Victor Frankenstein trailers tease a dangerous re-imagining
Victor Frankenstein, the upcoming monster movie starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy, teased its first images months ago. Today, two new trailers for the film are making the rounds, and they preview a disturbing re-imagining of the classic monster movie. McAvoy plays the titular character, and Radcliffe backs him up as his assistant Igor. There are hints of a Frankenstein’s monster army, pokes and prods at man playing God, and a somewhat-skinless monkey that looks terrifying. We don’t get a good glimpse of the main monster, and that makes me happy. Trailers give away way too much these days, and these two trailers tease just enough.
Watch the first two trailers for Victor Frankenstein (an official US trailer and a more subtle UK trailer) after the jump.
Not too bad, right? The remake/re-imagining/update focuses heavily on the friendship and camaraderie between Victor and Igor, which could be interesting. Again, there’s just enough on display to whet the appetite of monster movie fans and fanatics, but it seems there’s plenty more to uncover. The UK trailer below is a lot more atmospheric, and I actually prefer it to the above US trailer. Give it a watch:
I literally just started watching the TV show Penny Dreadful last night, and having the first episode **SPOILERS** end with introducing Victor Frankenstein was pretty great. Now these trailers pop up, and I’m kind of in full classic monster mode. Even if this ends up being a less-than-original remake, I’m sold.
Unfamiliar with the story? Shame on you. Seriously. It’s one of the originals. That said, here’s a plot synopsis for Victor Frankenstein to catch everyone up:
