First trailer for Thor: The Dark World hits
Thor: The Dark World is a cornerstone in Marvel’s Phase Two lineup, and today we get the first official trailer for the film. Everything looks a little rougher (in a good way), and with a new villain may come new challenges. Plus, we get a peak at what appears to be a hipster/heroine addict Loki for a second, so there’s that.
Check out the trailer and a few film images after the jump!
Returning to the realm of Asgard are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Rene Russo as Frigga, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Idris Elba as Heimdall, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. Also back for the franchise is Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Stellan Skarsgard (Erik Selvig), and of course Stan Lee. New to the group we’ve got Zachary Levi playing a character named Fandral, and as our main antagonist Dr. Who….errrr…Christopher Eccleston is playing Malekith. Not a bad lineup at all!
Here’s an official synopsis for the Thor: The Dark World:
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
