The Night Before trailers preview the naught Christmas movie
The first red band trailer for The Night Before popped up a few months ago, but a green band trailer finally made the rounds recently and both can be enjoyed by the movie-viewing masses. The last naughty Christmas movie I remember seeing was Harold & Kumar’s special, and before that it was probably Bad Santa, so it’s been some time since I crossed paths with a worthwhile adult Christmas romp. Seth Rogan and his on-screen childhood pals Anthony Mackie and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are bringing us this year’s entry, and it looks like a lot of fun for fans of the fairly-barren genre.
Got a favorite R-rated Christmas movie? Looking to add another one to your yearly watching tradition? Give the first trailers for The Night Before a watch after the jump.
Here’s the green band trailer, just in case you’re at work:
And here’s the red band trailer which includes a bit more language:
At first look, I was ready to bet The Night Before was going to be similar to The Hangover in a “guys get messed up and try to piece together the night” aspect, so I’m happy that didn’t happen. That said, the movie looks pretty straightforward, playing up the drug use and profanity for hopeful laughs and childish chuckles. The Night Before was directed by Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies), whose previous projects have been intriguing and memorable for various reasons. Let’s hope Levine plus Rogan’s brand of comedy, paired once again with long-time Rogan writing partner Evan Goldberg, plays out well and makes for a fun Christmas movie instead of falling flat for cheap laughs.
In case the trailers weren’t enough to fill you in, here’s an official plot synopsis for The Night Before:
Ethan, Isaac, and Chris have been friends since childhood, and for a decade, their yearly Christmas Eve reunion has been an annual night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is coming to an end, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball – the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.
The Night Before stars Seth Rogan, Anthony Mackie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lizzy Caplan, Mindy Kaling, Jillian Bell, and Michael Shannon. Get prepped for the Christmas season, and catch the movie in theaters on November 25, 2015.
