The trailer for the animated film The Lego Movie will bring you back
In a time when properties from our subjective good old days are being auctioned off and made into quickly produced, under developed films it’s nice to see something fun get thrown out of the nostalgia tornado on occasion. The Lego Movie looks to be an ensemble of recognizable characters and fun cameos ala Wreck-It Ralph, and here’s hoping we’ll have an instant family-friendly classic when the film hits theaters next year.
Check out the first trailer and poster for The Lego Movie after the jump!
It’ll be fun to see how the film integrates different Lego elements into the action. Personally, it’s awesome to see the solid red light bars used as actual lasers, and there’s even a shark in there!
Here’s the official synopsis for The Lego Movie:
The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
The Lego Movie was written and directed by the duo that brought us Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, and boasts some great voice talent. Parks and Recreation’s Chris Pratt is the main character Emmet, and he’ll be joined at some level or another by Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Alison Brie, Liam Neeson, Nick Offerman, Will Arnett, and Elizabeth Banks.
The film hits theaters February 7th, 2014.
